This incredibly predictable story centers around a woman and her daughter and their struggles to face life in the face of divorce, memories of a terrible accident and teenage angst. Even though I’d never describe myself as a horse-lover always been more of an admirer, keeping my distanceI also really enjoyed Gruen’s commentary on the relationship between humans and animals that comes through in this story via AnneMarie’s love for Hurrah, and Eva’s love for Smokey Joe. Oh the non-committing boyfriend and subsequent crazy misunderstandings!

I am quite I will read any book about horses. View all 3 comments. How can this be the same author as the one who wrote Water for Elephants? The one character Sars didn’t care for is her daughter, Eva. I would definitely read them.
I’m not expert on horses, but I thought that in this book she created a moving story with well crafted settings and high emotions.
Her incompetence and poor parenting were much more under control. Jan 21, Mackay rated it did not like it Shelves: There is anger throughout the book and human errors. Yes I ride horses, and yes I am a horsewoman and this is probably why the storyline bothered me SO very much.
And there was plenty of excitement that kept saa wanting to read just one more chapter. Trivia About Flying Changes R Annemarie is not an easy character to like, however, her imperfections make her easier to relate to so you kind of saga to route for her. She never learns or grows canges changes–she’s just a whiny, self-involved jerk. Flying Changes is as cheesy as any horse tale out there. But when Eva falls in love with a spectacular blue roan Nokota who hasn’t let anyone ride him since his arrival at the barn, Annemarie’s doubts come crashing back.
That little bitch, every time her horse took a jump I prayed for her untimely death. I found I was getting more and more aggravated with the characters in this book. More books by this author.
Both novels are, once again, full of meticulous research and unending emotion, whether it is happiness, shock, anger, annoyance, or any other emotion one can think chxnges. Turns out I don’t like Eva or her mother anymore this time around than I did in the first novel. The plot focuses on the main character’s daughter and her eventing career. I guess its difficult to write a really good story involving women and their horses.
Sara lives with her husband, three children, two dogs, four cats, two horses and a goat in North Carolina. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
I guess I would just describe it as poor chick lit. Want to Read saving….
Main character is so feeble, needy just wanted to slap her in every situation. Aug 27, Cheryl rated it really liked it.
We moved quickly, but nothing ever felt rushed or glossed over. The only thing I didn’t like about the book is that I thought the teenage girl’s bad attitude towards her mother got old after awhile and I started noticing that the main character was always “about to grueh. The ending wrapped everything with no loose ends and there’s never a dull moment in this moving story. These books portray the infallible part of life and that is what makes sada perfect.
Oh the teen angst!
